So this past weekend marked the first official weekend that I began my journey into the study of Ayurveda. I say, official, as I have been studying ayurveda on and off and incorporating its principles into my life for the past four or five years or so. However, after years of pleading my ayurvedic doctor, Dr. Jyoti Light Miller, she finally decided to ascertain to this longing request. We are undergoing a magnificently intimate 350 hour Ayurveda Gurukula program. Ayurveda is a natural healing science, originating in India, and dates back more than five thousand years. All medical modalities, including allopathic medicine stem from their roots in Ayurveda. Gurukula literally translates into, ‘extended-family’ and is an approach where the doctor or ayurvedic master takes a very hands on and personal approach to teaching this healing science of life.
There are so far ten of us in the group. We are eight women and two men. We are all from different backgrounds and yet we are all seeking further knowledge into the grand oasis of ourselves. We are training to become certified Ayurvedic counselors, however, we are all in deep self inquiry and investigation of ourselves first. In Ayurveda it is known and understood that we can only truly help, heal and know others when we can truly heal and know ourselves. Therefore this course is really about getting to know who each of us is through and through. It can be a scary thing and yet extremely attractive. Lot’s of realizations and executions at bay.
The weekend was out of this world splendid! We learned so much about the herbs in our world and the cosmos and essential oils and the fundamental principles that orchestrate our genetic, physiological and emotional make up, and this was only scratching the surface. By the end of the course we need to know and recognize the qualities and properties of around four hundred herbs and spices as well as various essential oils and their significance.
‘Know Thyself’ I’ve been tooting for the past few years to myself. Well here you have it. The deep well and eternity of self knowledge and self inquiry all wrapped into the intricate and detailed affair we have with our physical world. It doesn’t get any closer than this.
If you’re vibrating or longing along these lines too, don’t hesitate at this opportunity for it may not come and present itself like this again. Shoot me an email and I’ll fill you in. Chandanni@wedharma.com
So happy to be in the world and grasping as much juice as possible.
Until we meet again…
ONELOVE,
Chandanni xx:)

Wonderful for you, Chandanni! This sounds like an awesome program. I’m relishing the taste of Ayurveda today, as I just received a shipment in the mail of Chayavaprasha, my favorite Ayurvedic tonic! It’s hard to believe that something so tasty can be packed with goodness and Ayurvedic wisdom!
Sat Nam,
Jim
