It’s so interesting to me the word courage. So many throughout history have defined and re-defined the notion of courage. From the Wizard of Oz to the political warfare systems, this word is not only a virtue but a task and a means towards survival and towards that which forges us ahead. To have courage is to be effortlessly in pursuit of finding that which reveals some great truth about what we are going through. So therefore without this noble conquest of that which emerges on revelation or in truth, courage is mistaken for a desperate and over- zealous- reactionary -tendency. Unfortunately our cultures and predominant history seem to work on this latter definition of courage.
Courage means to reveal the aspects of that which we are affected by in a compassionate way. To bring beauty and intelligence wrapped up with an undefined breath from our soul in order to shake up the workings of miscommunication and misconduct. Seated in the intelligence of our compassionate souls we can redefine all emotions. Therefore the fragrance of passion and anger and misguided determination will be transformed through this filter of compassion. We will not need to sit in complacency or pacifism, but rather articulately redefine as we re-emerge grounded with depth and with the weight of wisdom and true rebellion, which renders us free, individual and wise. My call for courage is the call for benevolent individualism. Morality is a by- product of knowing thyself from this seat of conscious intelligence. We are all capable of understanding this for it is the nature of that which binds us into being human, being humane. We do not need any scholarly or genius capabilities to resonate or understand this. We just need to reflect. That is all meditation really is. Reflection. A child can reflect and so can we. Reflection means to cultivate bravery and insight. When we truly reflect we can not hold anyone else responsible for anything. We can reflect with our eyes closed or with our eyes wide open, it doesn’t matter. The world resides inside and outside of us and is a continuum. It is the most liberating space to be in when we can hold this accountability true for ourselves. To have courage means to stand alone while in conjunction with all that is and with all that isn’t. We are capable and we are ready to be liberated from the toils of fear, desperation, greed and anger if we make the choice one moment at a time, one happening at a time, to take on courage and use it from the seat of compassion and intelligence. The modern (wo)man is a benevolent individual whose unique ability to creatively share truth allows for others in return to also be affected and illuminated by their example of conduct and wherewithal. The journey of life is right here, right now. It is all in the details, for it is the details that make the whole. Every second leads to the next and to be aware of this journey in all its details needs great courage, great insight and great consistency.
Everything we do and the way we do it effects the next moment. The collective quality and summation of these activities gives us the world around us. It sounds simple and rudimentary, but is it when put into action? Every moment, every breath has a quality attached to it. That is the imprint and that is the reality of all that is.
Call it history, call it class structure, call it science or philosophy or karma, all you really have is yourself and your experience. So do yourself a favor and reflect on who you are and what you are doing all the time and watch how the miracle and mystery of life reveals itself to you as you fall deeper into the grand mysterious ocean of gratitude, love and humility of this precious life.
Courage to be who we truly are means to be aware of what we are doing and how we are sharing ourselves with the rest of the world. Moment to moment, day by day.
