Artist Robert Sturman Captures Yogic Magic in Connecticut
After our lovely Ayurveda class in San Ynez last weekend, where we learned all about Essential Oils–we had a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time at our favorite L.A, “Get-a-Way” retreat, the gorgeous Bacara Resort & Spa, just north of Santa Barbara, perched atop a bluff along the rugged Gaviota coastline. The name “Bacara” is derived from the Chumash Native American Indians who flourished in the area for thousands of years. Their word this enchanted land was Anacapa, a common name around Santa Barbara, meaning “mirage.” The name Bacara intertwines Barbara (from Santa Barbara) and Anacapa. Santa Barbara got her name from a Spanish Carmelite friar escaping a storm in 1602. He named his refuge after the saint whose feast day it was. And what a discovery it was! Today Santa Barbara is considered the American Riviera, home to the rich, the famous and the notorious.

I’ve had privilege to be learning the art of ayurveda, the 5000 year old “Science of Life” healing system from India, from a true Master, Dr. Light Miller. (Chandanni is also in the class) Food is the main important aspect of ayurveda (and my favorite part of the class!) We meet for one weekend a month– and everyone in the group is responsible for cooking and bringing different dishes from Light’s wonderful cookbook, to the class. I personally love the cauliflower loaf, make it all the time. Scrumptious! This past weekend, I was in charge of making saffron rice, and it turned out pretty good!
This past Christmas, I made my way to Reno, Nevada of all places. Why did I eschew somewhere more glamorous like Acapulco or Hawaii for Reno, Nevada, you may ask?
Hello my friends, over the past 3 years I have gone through courses, experiences, apprenticeship and spiritual integration. Through learning about my own ability to heal thyself, I have cultivated this passion to share with others the secret to living life in the flow. I have made a move to New York City [...]
